Dr Scott Bentley BDSc (WA) FRACDS
Scott graduated from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2004 and has practiced at Mount Pleasant Dental Centre ever since. During this time he has continued his professional development into dentistry by completing a ‘mini-masters’ in Dental Implants at the University of California and Los Angeles in (UCLA) 2009, joined the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) in 2010, and completed a Certificate IV in Practice Management specialised for Dentistry from the University of New England (UNE) in 2012. He is a member of the Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics (AADFA) and the Australian Dental Association (ADA). His clinical interest include cosmetic rehabilitation of worn dentition, ‘3D-priniting’ of complex dental restorations and the emerging use of neuromuscular modulators, muscle relaxants and dermal fillers for both therapeutic and cosmetic purposes.
Outside the clinic Scott enjoys going to the gym, scuba-diving, photography and is a self-confessed Star-Wars addict.
Dr Georgina Reidy BDSc (WA)
Georgina graduated from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2007. Since then she has worked in private practices in Manjimup and Bunbury, where she gained much experience in all areas of general dentistry. Not content with just carrying out her own practice, Georgina also has taken on a role as an undergraduate clinical tutor for final year dental students at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia.
Georgina began practice at Mount Pleasant Dental centre in 2012, proving to be popular with staff and patients alike. Georgina’s gentle and patient approach has put her in high demand with our most anxious patients.
In addition to Georgina’s passion for cosmetic and children’s dentistry, Georgina is an accredited provider of ‘Invisalign’ invisible braces.
Outside the clinic Georgina enjoys exercise and spending time with her young son. A proud member of Perth Irish community, Georgina is a talented Irish folk-singer who was once encouraged to pursue a career in professional Opera singing!
Dr Nadia Van Zyl BChD (US, UWC)
Dr Nadia Van Zyl was born and raised in Uitenhage South Africa. She obtained her dental degree at the University of Western Cape in Cape Town and has been practicing as a general dentist since 2006. She moved to Australia in 2012 and successfully completed the Australian Dental Exam. She is currently registered with the Australian Dental Council.
Her scope of practice includes all things general and she has extensive experience in paediatric dentistry.
She has a special interest in computerized dentistry and has completed several CAD/CAM courses, including the SAACD Cerec Masters Congress in October 2010.
Nadia is currently on leave.
Dr Lisa Otway B.A DMD (Dist)
Lisa was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and immigrated to Australia in 2008. She graduated first in her class from the University of Western Australia (UWA) with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
She is passionate about all areas of dentistry and is committed to remaining up to date with new technologies to provide the highest quality of treatment for her patients.
Her compassionate and patient approach has made her a popular and highly sought-after clinician, particularly amongst those suffering from dental anxiety.
Outside of the office, Lisa has a love of travelling, and stays active by cycling and swimming.
Dr Thomas Graydon BDSc, WA
Thomas graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2014, receiving the Alistair Devlin Prize in Paediatric Dentistry. Clinically Thomas has an interest in oral rehabilitation, cosmetic dentistry and wisdom tooth extraction. He is especially excited about the ”CEREC” technology and its ability to recreate a tooth right before your eyes!
Outside of the dental surgery Thomas is a big foodie, with a passion for cooking and learning about the different cuisines of the world. His epicurean interests influence his love of travelling, as he enjoys eating his way across the globe!
Laura graduated from Curtin University in 2004 and has been with Mount Pleasant Dental Centre ever since. During this time Laura has developed a keen interest in ‘Invisalign’ invisible braces, travelling throughout Australia and the USA to further her education in this popular treatment modality.
Laura is also very passionate and knowledgeable in tooth whitening and has a long list of very satisfied patients whose smiles have been brightened under her care. Her gentle injection technique has put her in high demand with our nervous patients!
Laura loves her job and prides herself in establishing long term relationships with her patients. She is knowledgeable in all aspects of dental treatment and is an excellent communicator for patients who need help making decisions regarding their treatment.
Outside the clinic Laura enjoys being a mummy to her little ones. If Laura won lotto, she would sadly leave her dental profession to pursue her ultimate passion…wine.
Courtney graduated from Curtin University in 1999 and has been with Mount Pleasant Dental Centre since then. Courtney has always been a popular and gentle hygienist with a loyal patient following and a keen interest in tooth whitening and cosmetic treatments.
Recently Courtney has furthered her career and studied for her Oral Therapy degree at Curtin University. She has now expanded her range of clinical practice to include children-specific dental services.
When Courtney isn’t busy working or studying, you can find her on an outdoor adventure, enjoying camping with her family.
Andrea graduated from Curtin University in 2009 and has been with Mount Pleasant Dental Centre ever since. During this time she has developed a keen interest in management of advanced gum disease (periodontitis) and has proved very popular with our patients due her thorough and gentle approach to treatment. In addition to providing preventive dental treatments, Andrea enjoys helping patients with tooth whitening and prides herself on her gentle injection techniques.
Outside the clinic Andrea likes to keep fit, walk her beloved dog ‘teddy’, and has proven to be quite the talented artist in her spare time!
Samantha Elverd began her career in dentistry as a dental chair-side assistant at Mount Pleasant Dental Centre in 2004. She left the practice in 2009 to study Dental Therapy at Curtin University. Once graduated, Sam travelled through the Wheatbelt providing children-specific dental treatment in towns from Dowerin to Southern Cross and everywhere in between. She returned to our clinic in 2013 and completed further training in her profession to qualify as an Oral Health Therapist in 2014.
Sam has a special interest in providing children preventative and restorative treatment, making treatment easier, more comfortable and more enjoyable for our youngest patients.
Outside the clinic, Sam enjoys the outdoors camping and fishing with her husband and Golden Retriever, Roxy.
Amielia, a country girl from Manjimup began working at Mt Pleasant in her “gap year” in 2009 as a Dental Assistant. After completing her Dental Hygiene studies at Curtin University in 2011, Amielia returned to our clinic in her new role on a part time basis. Since graduating from Dental Hygiene Amielia returned to study and completed her Oral Health Therapy studies in 2015 and is now dual qualified.
Amielia is passionate about oral health care especially the prevention and management of periodontal disease. She has a keen eye for orthodontics and tooth whitening. Her thorough approach to treatment has her patients achieving great results.
In addition to working at Mount Pleasant Dental, Amielia spends part of her week working with various dental specialists in the Perth Metro area. This experience of working closely with various dental specialists has broadened her experience and knowledge, and benefited her clinical skills immeasurably. Whilst enjoying these ‘specialist’ experiences, Amelia still considers Mt Pleasant to be her true “home” practice.
Outside work hours you may find Amielia down south visiting friends and family or on various sporting fields and courts. She is a keen sportswoman and loves playing any kind of sport thrown her way.
Fiona has recently joined us at Mount Pleasant Dental. Fiona started her dental career as a chair-side assistant in 2004, working in various dental clinics across Perth. Fascinated by dental, Fiona graduated from Curtin University in 2010 as a Dental Hygienist, and keeps abreast with continued professional training.
Fiona has since worked alongside Specialist Orthodontists and Dentists having a keen interest in orthodontics and enjoys all aspects of oral health care in particular; her new found passion for brightening smiles with In-chair Whitening. She finds this very rewarding to see satisfied patients with immediate results. There is nothing more important to Fiona than making her patients feel comfortable and relaxed.
Outside the clinic, Fiona loves spending time with her family chasing after her daughter and dining out with her husband.
Bec Duffy & Hope Skidmore
Bec started at Mount Pleasant Dental in 2010 and during this time has got to know the practice and the patients we support better than almost anyone. Coming from a customer service background, Bec has an uncanny ability to recognise every patient’s voice over the phone before they’ve introduced themselves! Cool, calm and collected at all times, Bec is an accomplished multitasker and always performs her duties with charm and a smile!
Hope started at our practice in 2015. Hope has been in the health care industry all of her adult life, with a background in optometry and pharmacy. Hope is also experienced in the beauty industry, and she has applied this experience to the cosmetic arm of our practice. Hope is experienced in assisting with provision of cosmetic dentistry and dento-facial cosmetic treatments such as lip fillers, muscle relaxant injections and medical-grade skincare.
Together Bec and Hope are the glue than binds the practice together! From sun-up to sun-down, every working day of the year they keep things running smoothly and efficiently for staff and patients alike.
